wall

Impenetrable wall of urns courtesy of our Russian friends. Can't interact with the urns because they are stacked too close together at the edge of the claim.
Comment 1 staxjax 2012-10-28 07:18:10 CET
Barrels act the same way when being placed to close together. Somebody would probably be able to make a wall out of barrels as well.
Comment 2 Procne 2012-10-28 21:39:41 CET
Are you sure it's the matter of stacking and not the fact that they are exactly on the border of claim? Maybe criminal acts don't work if perpetrator is on unclaimed ground and tries to interact with objects on claimed ground? I don't have means to test it :(
Comment 3 staxjax 2012-10-28 22:04:40 CET
You can test it. Stack more than 3 barrels or urns as close together as you can and try to access the one in the middle...you will just bump into the adjacent urns/barrels.

I must admit I don't understand what the problem is. How can it not be possible to lift the urns in the corners?
Comment 5 loftar 2012-10-29 01:09:50 CET
I cannot seem to reproduce it, at least; and then I've even used god powers to pack urns far closer than is possible using the ordinary lift command.

It's like you aren't able to interact with them at all... They aren't able to be lifted, or destroyed. You can open them though, and they're empty.

It seemed the land was raised ever-so slightly, as a platform to place the urns on.

It could be a height thing, in that case.

I was able to reproduce it, using 3 empty urns. The outer urns I could lift, but the middle urn I could not.

What doesn't make sense to me, is the corner urns in their "vault". It would seem like they'd be easily moved, if a hitbox were the issue... Which is what lead me to notice the little "platform" everything was on.

Perhaps try to raise the land beneath them?

I tried some things and it turns out urns cannot be destroyed at all. Nothing happens when you target them for destroy command (character doesn't even go in their direction), but I guess that's already known.

I also tried placing those urns as close as I could, on elevated ground and on plane, but whenever I could open an urn I could lift it. I believe that the issue might still be the fact that the item you are trying to lift is on claim while you aren't. But, as I have no black skills I'm unable to test this theory.

Another thing I have been thinking about is this potential height's impact on innteractions. I had noticed some time ago that it's harder to hit animals when they are higher / lower than you. I assume that you need to be in certain distance from object to interact with it - is distance calculated using only x, y, or with z coordinate as well? If the latter - would it potentially be possible for some objects to put them on slope steep enough so that the hitbox would prevent characters from coming close enough to interact? Is the distance calculated the same way for opening containers and for lifting?

And the last idea - maybe it's client issue? Maybe custom clients have some issues with those interactions, and on default client you can normally list those urns?

I'm almost certain, that with theft, you can pick something up from a claim, while you aren't actually on the claim. I've accidentally dropped my own chests on someones claim in my group, and had to steal it back.

I'm doubting that enders is the problem... To setup a "vault" in that way, only to have yourself summoned by someone with the default client wouldn't make sense.

It is there, because it cannot be broken.

When I tried to destroy them (every urn in the wall), I run at it, but then just bump in to it.

Yeah, it's definitely a matter of interacting with items on the claim, while standing off of the claim. It happens even if you own the claim yourself.
Comment 10 loftar 2012-11-03 20:02:43 CET
Indeed, it is a claim matter, and I know what the bug is. I'll fix it soon.
Comment 11 loftar 2012-11-05 18:10:44 CET
This bug has been worked around for now, since urns have been made destructible, but the actual bug still remains.
Comment 12 loftar 2012-11-07 20:35:09 CET
The real bug should now be fixed after the next server restart.
