While in your canoe, do the "laugh" emote and then quickly get out of your canoe. You will now be carrying the paddle in your hand. You can derp around with the paddle and do various fighting stances, emotes, etc. It goes away eventually if you do too many emotions. If you pick up your canoe and put it on your back afterwards the canoe will not appear on your back
